fo'cus to concentrate attention or effort (Merriam-Webster)
It is extremely difficult to stay focused when your physical environment is full of distractions. Studies show that the cause of most automobile accidents is "distracted driving." Cell phone use, text messaging, applying makeup, reading--you name it. They all cause us to take our eyes off the road, putting ourselves and others at risk.
For the Christian, the "road" we travel is part of God's purpose and destiny for our lives, with the Word of God and prayer to lead, guide, and strengthen us along the way. It is indeed a faith walk that is encumbered with distractions. But I encourage you today to stay focused. You have the power to dismiss the background noises that disturb your thoughts, and the people around you who have been assigned by the enemy to throw you "off your square." You can destroy those old tapes of negative words that were spoken over your life, causing you to relive your past failures and disappointments.
Speak life over your life and concentrate your attention on what you can do in this present moment to forge ahead into your destiny. In Christ, you are an overcomer . . . more than a conqueror. Don't allow yourself to get sidetracked; stay focused. When you stay focused, you stay strong!
